Samue O Nami, "The Wave"

This Samue features on the back the O Nami (great wave), represented in one of the most famous Ukiyo-e pieces made by Katsuhika Hokusai.

it’s not printed on the Samue but featured in the back using the traditional technique called Bassen (discoloration technique) which consists in discoloring, removing the dye in details of the fabric leaving the shape of the design.
